Black Rock State Park
Thomaston CT
Review by Fuzzy Bear - June 8-10 2007

We visited Black Rock State Park on the weekend of June 8-10 2007. As with most State Parks in CT the grounds are well kept with plenty of campsites set up for all tastes from open field to wooded. While some of the sites were grouped a little closer together than we might have liked they were still laid out very nicely. The restroom/shower buildings were in very nice shape and conveniently located. The park rangers were very visible, touring the park frequently, and also very friendly. Within walking distance is swimming and fishing at Black Rock pond. As a state park there are no planned activities, at least while we were there, but for a quiet restful experience it was very nice. They do have wood and ice for sale, and a concession stand located at the beach. Since we had rain most of the weekend, we never did make it over to the beach, but for what we look for in a camping weekend it was great.
